Shagari Warns APC To Stop Attacking President Jonathan

The Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Mukhtar Shagari, on Thursday, warned the All Progressive Congress (APC) to stop attacking President Goodluck Jonathan.
The deputy governor, who is also a leader of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, made the assertion during a chat with ThisDay in Sokoto State.

He advised the leadership of the opposition party to commit its energy into something more productive, like putting its house in order instead of wasting it antagonizing President Jonathan-led administration.

Speaking further, Shagari, noted that those unnecessary attacks would not help promote the unity and progress of the country.

The deputy governor expressed optimism that APC would be a thing of the past after 2015 general election because the party does not have any solid programme that can transform the wellbeing of Nigerians.

Muktar Shagari is the son of former President Shehu Shagari. He was born in 1956 in the town of Shagari, Sokoto State. He was appointed Nigerian Minister of Water Resources in a June 2001 reshuffle of the cabinet of President Olusegun Obasanjo, and held office till January 2007 when he left to compete for Deputy Governor of Sokoto State. He was elected Deputy Governor of Sokoto State in April 2007, and after a legal challenge was reelected in May 2008.
