Onaiyekan Criticizes Jonathan Over Labelling Critics As Terrorists

The Catholic Bishop of Abuja and former CAN president John Cardinal Onaiyekan has urged Nigerian Presidency to stop labelling critics of his administration as terrorist supporters.

According to The Nation, while speaking about the political insinuations surrounding the insurgency issue in the country, the cleric was quoted saying as he spoke on Rockcity 101.9 FM Abeokuta, Ogun State:
"The issue of the politicisation is very serious and dangerous, where the party in government sees anybody who doesn’t agree with them as the Boko Haramist that are out to destroy the nation. What this means is that, if you do not agree with me, or if you are not in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), you don’t love Nigeria…"
Onaiyekan stated that such attitude would not help to advance Nigeria and handle its current challenges. He claimed that disagreements between the parties don’t mean lack of love for the country. He also criticized the opposition over the same issue saying they consider themselves "the only ones who love Nigeria".
